PostSubject: New Paypal Scam?   Fri Oct 22, 2010 8:31 am

Has anyone received an email from service@paypay.com recently? Got one this morning. They say they need to update security measures and give you 2 sites to log into. My computer warns me that they are insecure sites. They word the email as though it is from Paypal but obviously not. Is this some new scammer out there? Maybe someone trying to hack into our real Paypal accounts?

Paypal doesn't do that. It is a scam.

I thought the same thing Gene. The email says this is the second time they have tried to make me aware. I know for a fact this is the first one I have received. I forwarded the email to Paypal. I will update any response I get.

I've had 3 of those messages in the last 2 days. Scam for sure.

I just talked to Paypal and they verified it's a new scammer out there. They way they trick you is by wording everything in the email as Paypal, not paypay. Just a heads up for everyone.

It's been around for several years. I've gotten those even when I didn't have a Paypal acct.

What idiot would continue to respond when the address was paypay.com?. I guess the odds are with the scammers.

These scammers make it look like it really comes from Paypal. If they were counterfeiting money, they would do a great job with it.

Paypal will never ask you to confirm your user name and password, or verify your information. Any email asking you to do this is a scam.
